Coach Margi Beima is in her 18th year as the head coach of the SHC girls volleyball program and has been coaching at SHC for 22 years. During her tenure as head, SHC has tallied more than 500 wins and has won three WCAL titles, seven CCS titles, including one Open Division title, five NorCal championships, and a Division III State Championship in 2014.
Coach Beima has received numerous coaching awards, including 2004 San Jose Mercury Volleyball Coach of the Year, 2005 Central Coast Section Honor Coach, National Federation of High School Sports (NFHS) 2010 Western Regional Girls Volleyball Coach of the Year, 2010-11 CIF State Model Coach of the Year, and most recently 2018 CalHiSports.com State Coach of the Year and SF Italian Athletic Club Coach of the Year. Under Coach Beima’s leadership, the SHC volleyball program has earned the American Coaches Association Team Academic Award (averaging a 3.3 GPA or higher) for the past 14 years. Coach Beima also founded the Founders Serve It Up Classic (currently in its 8th year), a volleyball tournament that combines community service and tournament play with fellow Lasallian schools.
Coach Beima began as Athletic Director for Sacred Heart Cathedral in July 2020 after serving for years as the assistant to the SHC President and Director of the Community Learning Partnerships program. She is a co-director and founder of the non-profit Sláinte Volleyball Club. Coach Beima is a graduate of Santa Clara University where she double-majored in English and Spanish, and was a four year letter-winner on the volleyball team.
